Dapo is a Partner & Africa Head of Deal Advisory & Private Equity Group at KPMG.
Dapo leads the Sub-Saharan African network of KPMG member firms in 33 countries to provide Mergers & Acquisition, corporate & project finance, financial restructuring, fund raising and business transformation services.
Having advised on several landmark transactions in Africa across many sectors, Dapo is a recognized expert in Corporate Finance and Private Equity in Africa and has acted as Financial Adviser to virtually all the PE firms and major strategic investors.
Dapo started his career in Andersen in 1992 and rose to the position of Senior Manager in 2002. He was also awarded a UK Foreign Commonwealth Office Scholarship in 2002, for a fully-funded MSc degree program in the UK.
He returned to KPMG (formerly Andersen) in 2003 to lead the newly established Financial Advisory Service Group which was the first and then only fully-dedicated corporate financial advisory practice in Nigeria and West Africa. The practice quickly grew in size and market recognition and has become the largest practice and the go-to-firm for landmark transactions across Africa.
In 2006, Dapo was promoted to the KPMG partnership as an Equity Partner and rose to become the Head of Deal Advisory and Private Equity for West Africa and Africa in 2009 and 2012 respectively. He was elected to the KPMG Nigeria Policy Board in 2017.
Dapo is a recognized expert on Africa business and investment landscapes and has been invited as a resource person, faculty, panelist and moderator at many international conferences, seminars and fora such as the World Economic Forum, Harvard Business School Africa forum, London Business School Africa, among others. He has written many articles on investments, private equity and doing deals in Africa and has delivered many lectures on corporate finance, business valuations, IPO and private equity.
Dapo and his team have won many international awards, the latest of which is the 2018 Global Financial Advisor award, awarded by the Private Equity Africa organization.
He holds a 2nd Class Upper Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from OAU, Nigeria & as a UK Chevening Scholar, holds a Master of Finance degree in International Finance with Distinction from the University of Glasgow. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria & the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School, Gordon Institute of Business Studies (GIBS) South Africa, INSEAD Fontainebleau France, London Business School UK and Harvard Business School USA.
His passion includes African contemporary arts, culture, music, horology, community development and technology. He is a member of the Lagos Metropolitan Club and the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON).
