Suresh Chellaram

BIO

After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from the University of California, San Diego in 1976, Suresh returned to Nigeria for two years before moving to Los Angeles in 1979. He spent 5 years there with his wife, Kavita, where they bought a majority stake in Pottery Barn, a small regional retail chain in Southern California, before selling it to The Gap in 1984 and returning to Lagos. In 1990, he became Managing Director of Chellaram PLC’s Nigeria business, and has succeeded in growing the group whose activities now span a wide spectrum of categories including manufacturing, packaging, wholesale & retail trade, and, real estate.

A dedicated philanthropist, he has been involved in the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, Young Presidents Organisation, the Indian Cultural Association and various charitable groups in Nigeria, both directly and through the Murli T. Chellaram Foundation.
